In 2020, Pink Lady© apples become even more sustainable thanks to the Nature Fresh certified compostable cling film, which starts to be used for their packaging.
This result is the outcome of a joint research: on the one hand, at the beginning of 2019, the Pink Lady© Europe Association is looking for a virtuous packaging such as PVC and more economical than the cardboard solution, on the other hand, in the middle of the year Fabbri Group proposes the new Nature Fresh certified compostable packaging system recognized by the EU Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program.
This leads to several trials, meetings and field tests, including during the lockdown, and at the end the Pink Lady© Europe Association integrates Nature Fresh among the sustainable packaging systems adopted for Cripps Pink apples under its own brand.
In this way, the European campaign of apples wrapped with Nature Fresh by the contracted packers of the Pink Lady© chain starts in November 2020.
